“Very efficient and helpful service. The information and help that I received was invaluable. I highly recommend expats to make use of this service because cancelling stuff in Germany if you don’t speak German can be quite the pain.”

“Deregistration.de has been a lifesaver. With great service, kind help and advice, I was able to deregister from NL. It saved me a trip back to Germany! On top of that, without being able to really speak German, they made the virtual process stress-free and pleasant. I never felt alone or without support. I highly recommend them and paying for the extra level of service is well worth it!”

Do you want more than just online deregistration of your residence?

Choose additional service modules and create your perfect package to suit your needs!

To add an option – such as GEZ deregistration, vehicle deregistration or deregistration of your business, child benefit or parental allowance – simply select it directly in the booking form. Our team of experts will then work with you to tailor your package to your specific needs and make sure you have everything you need to manage your move well.

Here you will find an overview of all our services.

Can you deregister from Germany online?

In short: Yes! It is possible to deregister online.

However, it is not surprising that this question is asked again and again, as different statements on this topic can be found on different websites. This is because some registration offices, such as Bremen or Berlin, do not offer online deregistration, while in other cities, such as Munich and Stuttgart, it is now possible.

However, the process is often confusing, and the online platforms are usually not very user-friendly.

Another option for deregistering your residence online is to hire an independent and specialized service provider like Deregistration.de. We act as an interface between the citizen’s office and the customer, taking over all communication with the authorities – even when things get difficult. We also provide a user-friendly and sophisticated platform where all bureaucratic matters related to moving away can be easily taken care of digitally.

Can I deregister my residence in Germany if I don’t speak German?

Yes, you can deregister from Germany even if you don’t speak German. However, it can be difficult to navigate the deregistration process without understanding the language. Our packages provide online deregistration forms in English and include translations of official German deregistration forms so you can complete the process accurately and efficiently.

In addition, our expert team is available to communicate with the authorities on your behalf, making the process even smoother for non-German speakers. With our help, you can deregister from Germany without worrying about language barriers.

What happens if I don’t deregister my residence in Germany?

If you fail to deregister from Germany, you will still have to fulfill obligations such as TV and radio tax (GEZ), health insurance, taxes and ongoing contracts. This can also lead to problems when registering at your new place of residence or when applying for important documents (e.g. passport renewal abroad), as you are still officially registered in Germany and the deregistration certificate often has to be presented. In addition, you may be fined up to €1,000 (see fines catalog).

How long does it take to complete the deregistration process?

The processing time at Abmelden.de varies, but it usually takes 1 to 3 weeks to complete the deregistration process. In large cities such as Munich or Berlin, it can take up to 8 weeks. Abmelden.de processes your documents within a maximum of two working days and remains in contact with the citizen center until the deregistration certificate is available.

Can I add extra services to my package?

Yes, you can add on extra services to your package. We offer a variety of add-on options for your convenience, including:

  • Cancel broadcasting fee
  • Cancel contracts

The following services can be booked separately:

  • Send original documents abroad
  • Vehicle deregistration
  • Mail forwarding
  • Cancel child benefits
  • Cancel parental benefits

Simply let us know which services you would like to add on to your package, and we will be happy to assist you with the process. Please note that additional fees may apply depending on the services selected.

How do I contact customer service?

If you have any further questions or concerns during the deregistration process, we are here for you. Our team is here to help you with any questions or concerns you may have.

You can contact us via your ticket, by email or using the live chat function on our website. We will do our best to answer your questions and provide you with the information you need to make the process as smooth as possible.

What payment methods do you accept?

You can choose the following payment method in the last step:

  • Credit card, PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay, GiroPay, iDEAL, Bancontact, Przelewy24, EPS

As soon as you click “buy,” we will direct you to our payment provider’s page. You can complete your payment there, and we don’t store payment details such as credit card numbers or similar at any time.

After successful payment, we will redirect you back to our site.

What happens if I want to cancel my booking?

In principle, we do not offer a full refund because your documents are created individually after booking. See also our Right of withdrawal. You can downgrade your Personal/Premium package to the Self-Service package and get a refund of the difference as long as the documents have not yet been sent. If the package has been sent by post, or you have personally unsubscribed, you can claim back up to €50 (Premium) or €25 (Personal Assistant) by providing proof of deregistration.

If you have any further questions or concerns about our refund policy, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service team.

*How does the money-back guarantee work?

At Deregistration.de, we stand behind the quality of our service and offer a 6-month money-back guarantee for our deregistration service. If we are unable to successfully deregister your residence within 6 months of your purchase, we will refund you the full amount. The guarantee does not apply if you personally go to the citizens’ office during our process.

Please note that you will not be eligible for a full refund if you go to the registration office in person to deregister your residence while our process is ongoing.

The guarantor is Expat Services UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Almstadtstr. 25, 10119 Berlin. The guarantee period starts 185 days after:
a) using our managed service package: after uploading the necessary documents in our secured support ticket system, or
b) using our self-service package: dispatch the letter with deregistration (proof required) to the responsible office (Bürgeramt); at the latest 120 days after purchase.

The guarantee is valid in Germany. We will refund the payment within seven days; the credit on the account/credit card can take several weeks and depends on the payment processor. The consumer’s legal rights remain unaffected by the guarantee and are not limited.
